Dear Dharma Practitioners

Seeing buddha-knowledge free from ills, they pity those who are helpless, forever destitute, burned by the fires of passion and folly, minds bound by a hundred miseries in hellish existences.

They undertake steadfast effort to save those veiled in afflictions, those who are without insight, who have little will, who are deprived of the jewel of the way of enlightenment, following the flow of themundane whirl, afraid of liberation.

Seeking knowledge, unattached, arising for the sake of the world, they consider how the liberation of the world may be caused - it is nowhere but in the unobstructed knowledge of the enlightened, and the endless knowledge of Buddhas is born of wisdom.

Reflecting that wisdom comes from learning; day and night, in the cause of learning, doing nothing else, they seek the truth as the ultimate goal.

Avatamsaka Sutra Book 26 - The Ten Stages (Cleary: Page 727)

The ICBI exists to make clear the empty mind ground as taught within the Chinese Ch'an Buddhist tradition, and other related spiritual paths.  The ICBI is 'independent' of any worldly concerns and strives to ensure the spiritual welfare of humanity and all other life forms.  The empty mind ground can be realised or revealed, but it cannot increased or decreased.  The ICBI is an empty doorway through which all can travel to realise its non-substantiality.  Therefore the ICBI is as much 'void' as it is 'form'- use one to discover the other - but always remain detached to both.  This is the real why ICBI is truly 'independent'.

Peace in the Dharma

Mr Wang Ping (王平)

Secretary – ICBI (Beijing Office) - (11.7.2016)
