ICBI Membership

Membership of the ICBI can be attained in three ways:
 
a) Facebook
b) Email
c) Post
 
Any ‘Individual’ or ‘Institution’ can join the ICBI through its dedicated Facebook Page which can be accessed at the following link:

​This is referred to as ‘ICBI Facebook Membership’.  An ‘Individual’ or ‘Institute’ can join the ICBI by simply pressing the ‘Like’ button located at the top right-hand side of the page.  ‘ICBI Facebook Membership’ does not automatically attract an ICBI Membership Certificate – but every ‘ICBI Facebook Membership’ applicant has the right to request such a document.  Each ‘ICBI Facebook Membership’ applicant has the right to submit articles to the ICBI eJournal – Patriarch’s Vision, and make suggestions for future ICBI Projects and future directions of development.
 
By registering a valid email address with the ICBI, an individual or institute becomes a member of the ICBI.  This type of membership does not automatically attract an ICBI Membership Certificate – but every email applicant has the right to request such a document.

Directions for ICBI Membership
 
1) Membership is free of financial charge.
 
2) Membership requires commitment to Ch’an practice.
 
3) Membership requires self-effort.

5) The ICBI communicates with its membership via Facebook, email or letter, whichever is applicable.
 
6) Members are required to share and support the ICBI ‘Guiding Principles’.
 
7) ICBI membership requires commitment to the highest levels of education.
 
8) Individuals and groups who are confirmed members may use the letters ‘ICBI’ after their name.
 
9) All members should contribute to the ICBI through personal effort and advanced thinking.
 
10) Membership of the ICBI implies the support of the perpetuation and practice of Ch’an Buddhism throughout the world.
 
Benefits of Membership:
 
a) Membership of the ICBI acknowledges the pure transmission of the Chinese Ch'an lineage as inherited by Master Xu Yun (1840-1959), and adds moral weight to its continuation in the world.
 
b) Membership of the ICBI acknowledges and supports all authentic Buddhist lineages which are the direct consequence of the spread of Chinese Ch'an Buddhism to other countries.
 
c) Membership of the ICBI acknowledges and supports authentic Buddhism wherever it has spread throughout the world.
 
d) Membership of the ICBI acknowledges and supports the journey of self-discovery that leads to full enlightenment.
 
e) Membership of the ICBI acknowledges and supports the development of an advanced and progressive form of 'new' academia through ongoing research and the articles contained within the ICBI eJournal 'Patriarch's Vision'.
